The Book of Tobit from the Apocrypha is a curious (and sometimes hilarious) tale about a family of Jews living as refugees in what is now Northern Iraq.  They struggle to make a living and adapt to a new culture, even as they remain devoted to their Jewish faith and customs.  The calamities that befall them test their coping skills, but never their belief in the efficacy and importance of prayer.  Like much of the Bible, this is a book that can be read through many different lenses.  Join us as we we discuss the book in light of the family’s status as refugees.
