Join us for one or all three Wednesdays this Summer: July 17, August 14, and September 4.
Following Wednesday Evening Prayer (6:00 PM) and Holy Eucharist (6:20 PM) in the Church, join us in air-conditioned Draesel Hall for a short program having to do with some aspect of music or worship, followed by dessert.
Now we sing ourselves to sleep: The Music of Compline
Compline is one of the Daily Prayer services in the Book of Common Prayer (page 127). It is among the most ancient services of the Christian tradition and derives its name from the Latin word completorium, or 'completion' and was first used to describe the final evening prayers by St. Benedict in the 6th century. We will learn some simple music settings of the prayers that can be used in Compline and then will pray the service together.
