On November 14, we begin our exploration of the Gospel of Luke with a focus on the Song of Mary, Magnificat, Luke 1: 47-55; The Song of Zechariah, Benedictus, Luke 1: 68-79; and The Song of Simeon, Nunc dimittis, Luke 2: 29-32. Each of these sections of scripture are referred to as canticles and are often set to music. Traditionally, they are often referred to by their Latin nicknames, take from the first words in the Latin translation of the text.
On the First Sunday of Advent, (November 28, 2021) we will begin hearing more from the Gospel of Luke on Sunday mornings. Join us for the month of November as parishioner Simone Crockett, with help from Father Beddingfield, will lead us in an exploration of Luke and the particular way in which Luke invites us to know Jesus Christ.
For background reading, we are using Luke for Everyone, by N.T. Wright. You may download your own ebook, or purchase a copy from the church.
