Join us four Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM in Draesel Hall for a discussion of selections from Friedman’s Fables. (You may download your copy of the book from an online bookseller or purchase a copy from the church.)
On October 31, we will read and discuss “The Power of Belief,” which can be read HERE.
Rabbi Edwin H. Friedman recounts tales that offer fresh perspectives on familiar human foibles, reflecting the author’s humor, understanding, and uncompromising commitment to an individual’s ability to make clear decisions and function well in the midst of competing forces. These tales playfully demonstrate that new ideas, new questions, and imagination, more than accepted wisdom, provide each of us with the keys to overcoming stubborn emotional barriers and facilitating real change both in ourselves and others.
Father Beddingfield will lead the discussion and with each fable, will provide some framework for understanding the family systems theory (as Friedman adapted the work of Murray Bowen) which underlies Friedman’s tales.
